I would like to do a formula for getting the total for just a certain period.
for example
01-jan  100
05-jan 100
04-feb 100
05-mar  100
if I enter 01-jan to 31-jan I should get 200
plse help

Hi,
This assumes your dates are in column A and amounts in column B.
Put your start date in c1 and end date in D1 and use this formula
=SUMPRODUCT((A1:A20>=C1)*(A1:A20<=D1)*(B1:B20))
