Any way to add a line/scatter chart on top of a stock chart?

I'd like to have a chart with
-- a stock curve for one set of data (high/low/close = columns B, C, D) and
-- a line or scatter curve for another set of data (column E)
Both would share column A for the X values (dates or years).
 
I've tried doing it with
-- two stock charts (where the high & low values of the second set that's to emulate a line/scatter chart are equal to the close values)
-- first creating a single stock chart, then just adding a single column of data to it and trying to turn that data set into a line/scatter chart
......
but both methods have failed.
 
Can this be done at all, or am I SOL (Sh__ out of luck) and will have to do some creative artwork on top of the regular stock chart after I paste it into PowerPoint?

Hello,

yes, this is possible.
A stock chart cannot be combined with another chart, but it's still doable. 

Select the data for the stock chart first and create the stock chart.
Then select the data in column E and copy it.
Select the chart and use Paste Special to paste as a new series. 

In the Chart Tools ribbon, on the Layout tab, select the new data series in the dropdown on the left hand side of the ribbon and format the data series.
Assign a solid line color and other formats of your choice.

Machine Throttling

• Go to the Start button.
• In the Search box, type "regedit" (without quotes) and press Enter.
• Look for the following registry key: "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ Microsoft\ SQMClient\Windows\DisabledSessions".
• On the right window pane, delete the subkey: "Machine Throttling".
• Restart your computer.
