Looking for clear steps to change the needed setting so that I can open hyperlinks to a word 2007 document from another 2007 document.

Hi, I was able to fix the hyperlink issue after uninstalling chrome but don't know exactly why.
here is what i did.
I downloaded the file form Steve H
http://www.local-it-guy.com/assets/files/IE-associations.bat in the other forum mentioned above from Steve and i launched it.
Then I uninstalled Chrome, but not with start- control panel - uninstall a program, but with start- all programs - google chrome - deinstall chrome.
With this i took the uninstall routine from google which they provide when you install the browser.

after that I again started the little file from Steve (run as administrator)

finally it worked!!! now I can launch hyperlinks again from any office application without any error.
